At Ashford Property Management, we want to help make your move as smooth as possible. We've compiled these moving checklists to help you address the responsibilities on your shoulders. Whether you're moving into one of our properties or preparing to say goodbye, these simple guidelines will help streamline the moving process.

Move-in Checklist

Let us be the first to welcome you to your new property. As you start to make the new place home, be sure to keep the following keys in mind:

First Month's Rent & Security Deposit

You will need to provide the first month's rent and security deposit at the time of the lease signing. Please confirm the amount with our team in advance. 

Move-in Date & Inspection

We will schedule an official move-in date at the lease signing. If an inspection is necessary, we'll also make arrangements at that time. 


We require all tenants to put utilities in the name of the leaseholder. We highly recommend doing this four to five days before moving into the home. This will help ensure the accounts aren't closed and prevent temporary outages or administrative fees. 

Move-out Checklist

As you prepare to move out of your Ashford Property Management rental home, you'll want to keep these important issues on your radar.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

Please refer to the terms of your lease for the conditions governing your stay with us. If you plan to leave your rental property, we require written notice of your intent to vacate the premises.

Property Condition

Your home must be returned to rent-ready condition before you return your keys. Be sure to take care of the following: 

Cleaning: Your home should be thoroughly cleaned, with carpets vacuumed and hard floors mopped/swept. Please pay careful attention to the kitchen and any bathrooms, wiping down hard surfaces, appliances, and cabinets. You also need to remove all trash from the home.

Landscaping: Make sure to address any and all landscaping duties for your rental, including mowing the lawn, tending to flower beds, and replacing burnt light bulbs in outdoor fixtures.

Security Deposit

Your security deposit will be returned to you after you leave your rental home. We will conduct a final inspection and deduct any expenses necessary from this deposit.

Please note, the security deposit does not serve as your final rent payment. Failure to pay your rent in a timely fashion will result in administrative fees. We may also report nonpayments to the relevant credit bureaus.
